General Information

The Sol is published twice weekly for the Jaltemba Coast from November to April and once a week from April to October - for the communities of Sayulita, San Pancho, Lo de Marcos, El Monteon, Los Ayala, Rincon de Guayabitos, La Peņita de Jaltemba, La Colonial, Lima de Abajo, Chacala, Las Varas.

The Jaltemba Sol is published by Dorothy and Bill Bell in sunny La Peņita Mexico. All rights reserved.

History of the Sol

The Sol, began as a writing project and opportunity to contribute to the community. Dorothy and Bill Bell began publishing the Jaltemba Express, the Sol's predecessor, at the La Peņita RV Park to introduce new residents about the community. The Express grew quickly as subscribers sent emails to friends and families "back home."

In the summer of 2007 the Bells were surprised to find that the name, The Jaltemba Express, had been registered as a unique domain name. This site has always been "For Sale". The Bells' dilemma was to either be hijacked into buying their own name or to move on.

September 13, 2007 the paper was christened the Jaltemba Sol.

Starting with a list of 100 names, we have grown to just under 8,000 subscribers in the community and are read throughout the world. We have reports that tell us over 40,000 distinct visitors read the Sol every issue.
