New book from Mazatlán publisher, Editorial Mazatlán, released Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México - November 5, 2007 - Editorial Mazatlán has announced the release of Bosques' War: How a Mexican diplomat saved 40,000 from the Nazis (and maybe prevented World War III) by Richard Grabman. Bosques' War is a translation of an oral history of the World War II experiences of Gilberto Bosques (1894 – 1997), who, as Mexico 's Consul General in Marseilles, France, used his country's neutrality in the early part of the war to protect and save tens of thousands of persecuted people. Grabman, as an introduction to the interview, provides a brief overview of Mexican diplomacy in the 1930s and 1940s to provide the reader with a historical perspective on Bosques' diplomatic activities, which continued with the Cuban missile crisis of the 1960s. This book should fascinate those interested in World War II history, Mexican history or the well known feats of Raoul Wallenberg, who was specifically sent by the Swedish government to save people from the Nazis. Bosques did it all on his own and is finally being recognized for his effort. Grabman, who lives in Alpine, Texas, is the editor of an on-line cultural and political journal, "The Mex Files" (http://mexfiles.wordpress.com). He is currently writing Gods, Gachupines and Gringos, a history of México for foreigners, for publication in early 2008. Originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York, Richard Grabman is a graduate of Syracuse University and worked for many years as an alternative press editor, technical writer and software trainer. He later worked in Mexico City as a teacher, administrator, translator and business writer. Editorial Mazatlán (calzada Camarón Sábalo No. 610, centro comercial Galerías, local No. 11, fracc. El Dorado, CP 82110, Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México) publishes English-language books on Mexican subjects.
